Dr. Levin has been active in the Mississauga community for 32 years.  His goal has been to make a difference in the lives of his patients.  This goal has been achieved by promoting continued lifelong learning and personal development.  He is proud that many of his former patients have gone on to exemplary careers to fulfill their dreams.  Several of his patients have become dentists and now 5 have become orthodontists.

Dr. Levin graduated from the University of Toronto, achieving both his dental degree, Doctor in Dental Surgery, and his orthodontic specialty certification.  Between these endeavours,  he spent a year in an oral surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh’s Montefiore Hospital.

Education has been a major tenet and long-term commitment for Dr. Levin.  He was active in teaching at the University of Toronto, graduate orthodontic department, where he was involved in the development of the Adult Orthodontic Programme.  He received his 25 Year Academic Service Award from the University of Toronto in the year 2000.  He has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as given continued education courses to general dentists across Canada and the United States.

As a leader in the dental and orthodontic communities, Dr. Levin has been a President of the Halton-Peel Dental Association, the Toronto Alpha Omega Dental Society, the Ontario Association of Orthodontists, and the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, a constituent of the American Association of Orthodontists.  He was General Chairman of the annual meeting of the American Association of Orthodontists that was held in Toronto, a meeting that drew 17,000 people from around the world.  He has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Ontario Dental Association, and received the Service Award from the ODA for his participation.  He has been elected to serve on the Faculty Council, Dental Faculty, University of Toronto.  In addition, he has also been elected to the House of Delegates of the American Association of Orthodontists, its governing body.

He continues to meet monthly with 5 other orthodontists to discuss difficult clinical cases, and to share ongoing continuing education.

When not in the office, Dr. Levin shares his life with his wife of 37 years, Geri, and their two children Alyssa and Mara.  While both children live in the United States, he is particularly proud of them.  Alyssa has followed in his footsteps as an orthodontist in Phoenix, and Mara, a marketing manager with Estee Lauder, with her husband, reside in New York City.

Dr. Levin enjoys his spare time watching his family develop into strong independent members of society.  While perched upon his motorcycle, he ponders his lucky days, and recently rode up to the Grand Canyon.  While his golf game is unsettled, he does enjoy his time on the links.  Fly fishing is a passion that he pursues when time allows.  During the winter, skiing is still a rush, but during the summer he loves to hike with his children.

Bart Iwasiuk
B.Sc., D.D.S., Cert Ortho., FRCD(C)
Email: bart@villageortho.ca

The newest member of the VILLAGE ORTHOdontics team, Dr. Bart Iwasiuk (we like to call him Dr. Bart) was born in Poland, and moved to Toronto at the age of 10 with his parents and a younger brother. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science degree in Math and Physics in 1994, and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1998.

He was a recipient of multiple awards including the Dr. Alan. K. Joe Scholarship in orthodontics, the Xi Psi Phi Honour Key Award, a two time winner of the Partridge-Luks Centennial award, as well as being named the "Most Outstanding Male Athlete”.  Most recently the Royal Collage of Dentists of Canada has awarded him a title of “Fellow" in orthodontics.  He is a member of many associations in both Canada and the United States.

His dental training provided him with the unique opportunity to serve externships at the Weeneebayko General Hospital, the Moose Factory Aboriginal Reserve Ontario, and the Academisch Centrum Tandheelkunde Amsterdam, Amsterdam, Netherlands. He also spent several months living in London England working at the mathematics department at the South Bank University.

Upon completing his dental training, Dr. Bart pursued a General Practice Residency at the University of Washington in Seattle. For his outstanding performance and commitment to the program he was given the rank of Chief Resident, and became a part-time clinical instructor at the University of Washington. During his subsequent year in Seattle he was able to work closely with several Orthodontists, Paedodontists and Pediatric Oral Surgeons. Most of his pre-orthodontic exposure was thus focused on children born with facial deformities and/or suffering from severe systemic illnesses.
He also volunteered his time at the Adolescent Health Clinic, working side by side with M.D.'s, learning about the many health issues faced by children and adolescents. He then obtained his Orthodontic training at the University of Rochester, Eastman Dental Center, NY.

When not at the office you might be able to spot him at the local gym playing volleyball, or in the great outdoors jogging, cycling, mountain biking or skiing. He also loves to watch movies, read books, and threatens to one day learn to play the trumpet.
